My gf purchased a 51 plate 1.6 Focus last night, and while the car seems nice enough to drive, it does have a couple of niggles I'd like to iron out. I've did a bit of research, but I'm just wondering if anyone here can give me some pointers.

Firstly, the fan only seems to work on speed 4 (I didn't try the fan until after we'd drove away in it rolleyes )

Some research seems to suggest that this is a common problem, and most likely to be the resistor pack. Anyone got any experience of this?

Second issue is a weird one. If the passenger door is locked, the remote locking will happily lock & unlock except the passenger door will stay locked. However, if the passenger door is unlocked, then nothing happens other than the car seemingly locking then immediately unlocking itself. Research again shows this to be a common issue, but the fixes are somewhat inconclusive -any ideas?

Any advice or pointers will be gratefully received!

The resistor is a common fault & cheap & easy to resolve (parts £15 ish from the dealer) its a half hour job to replace smile

cant help you with the lock fault though im afraid frown

You can toggle the central locking to unlock just the driver's door or both doors. IIRC you hold down the unlock button on the key pad for 5 secs, the car winks at you (and/or beeps, I can't remember) when the change is made. It's been a while since I owned a mk1 focus but this is essentially the "problem"...
