Went to Glyncorrwg today to have a nice afternoon ride around White's Level.

Turns out the place was packed and my quiet ride became my first ever mountain bike race biggrin

What a jolly good fun way to spend an afternoon! My times were probably utter crap, and I managed to pop the rear tyre on the last (timed) descent, but what an absolute buzz! The atmosphere was great too - everyone up for a wee chat and willing to help out with mechanicals.

Anyone from here make it over?

Intend to do that. Sounds like a blast. There's another in December.

I was there yesterday.. We rode the wall, and then Penhydd in the afternoon.

Didnt even know there was a race on until we got back to the car. Weather was good although a little warm, but the trails were perfect.

Great isn't it!

I rode the last two summer mash-ups and had a great time, sadly injured atm so didn't enter this time.

A lot of nay sayers moaning about "paying to ride a free trail" around my way, but you can't beat the buzz and there's nothing like a ticking (metaphorical) stopwatch to make you break that little bit later, pedal that little harder and jump that little higher.

Admittedly, I'm not sure it was worth me paying the £35 to enter, 'cos I was probably the slowest rider out!

However, it's great to have done my first race, and nice to have a t-shirt to prove to the OH that I actually did do a race! It'd be great to see if any of the photographers on the route got any half-decent shots of me on the last descent too smile

I think I will have been the slowest rider actually! Rode the Technical category (including the black run DH) on a fully rigid, completely original '92 Marin Eldridge... Hell of a good laugh though! Tempted to do the July Mash-Up at Glentress if they can sort the timing out...
