A letter to residents from subsidiary estate managers Wherry Housing Association on behalf of Atlantis Estates, said: “It is considered the flags are considered a nuisance and could be offensive to others.”

I was wondering when the first such story would emerge.

This always happens.

Who else is going to find it 'offensive'?

It's why they took down the flags at Heathrow.

Last time around, the police were planning on stopping people flying flags from their cars, on traffic safety grounds.

Muslims don't generally get offended by flags, Christmas and the like.

Professional interfering busybodies who love to get offended on behalf of what they perceive to be 'minority groups' are the problem here.

They are usually Guardian reading white heterosexuals.

I live and work in a multicultural area with loads of Muslims. I have NEVER EVER met ANY that have had a problem with English/British flags, Christmas/Easter, crucifix jewellery, etc etc.

I've never come across a muslim who finds the Union Flag or the Flag of St George offensive, similarly I have no idea about any flags being taken down at Heathrow because muslims have found it offensive.

Any links ? (I've had a look and couldn't find anything)

Local Council contacted one of our customers to tell them NOT to put up any England flags during the World Cup (didn't specify why).

The boss hates football, but has now bought 50 of them to put across the roof of his factory biggrin (He intends to keep them there after the football tournament too)

I'm somewhat surprised to find that I posted it. But it is local to me and it does specify the reason as being "offensive" although the boss tries to deny it later.

I find thes attempts to stifle national pride so embarassing, does it happen in any other country I wonder?

This is exactly what I would do if told not to fly one. I hate kickball with a passion.

I'd rather not see any flags than all these dire ones with ENGLAND written across them.

No they didn't.

Either him or you are lying.
