Picked up my first Cerbera last week
Late 97 4.2 in blue (the best colour apparently
)
Problem is that I know as much about engines as Jordon does about particle physics (bought it for the drive, sound and look)
Keen to learn - starting here. I have a tapping sound coming from the rear left. No problem when revs over 2000 or when I depress the brake. Only really an issue when coasting round town on about 2000 or slightly lower.
Any ideas?

Welcome, and you're right... blue is the best colour.
No good ideas about the sound though, sorry. Just drive faster?

"the best colour apparently" Well either James sold you the car, or Satman has
moved into Cerbera sales!
Seriously, it IS the best colour.
As for the noise, I think you will find it is the pads.
They tend to move about in early cars, nothing to worry about...unless of course it stops!
Have a great time with the car and take it easy at first.
Thanks also for the info for TCR.
Got a photo you want on there?
Go create some weather...

Welcome to Cerbdom!
I think I know the tapping sound you mention - ours has just started doing it too. On Cerberas it's common for the brake caliper slides to swell up and taper, so that as the pad wears it gets pinched between the caliper slides and seizes in place. To stop this happening you have to grind the metal backing part of the pad down to give enough clearance so that as the pad wears it doesn't seize up. So the pad is lifted in the caliper as you apply the brakes, or as the natural rotation of the discs passes close by the pad. The knock is of no consequence to the operation of the pad and brakes, but is a bit annoying.
Thanks Joolz.
Is this the right answer?

As for the tapping noise, then the replies you've already had blaming the brake pad/pads, is probably correct. They should get better when they 'bed in'. Its basically the pad rattling in the caliper.
I had a similar problem on my previous Elise when swapping to motorsport pads - would chatter awfully. It was cured by sticking a small thin foam strip to the caliper where the edge of the pads sat to take up the slack. Don't know if this would help on a Cerb.

I'm sure I read somewhere that more blue cars are in accidents and stolen than any other colour.
No really I'm not taking the piss.
Maybe it is because there are more of them, maybe it's because people with blue cars are crap drivers...
I'm just not sure, I do know that when I swapped from a blue griff to a red cerbera my driving abilities shot right up

Have to admit Davidd is correct........
Just not on this subject

Rosso Pearl is definitely the best colour cos when you are bombing up behind a car in front, more often than not they see a loverly bright red blur in their rear view mirror and promptly move out of the way (unless of course thy're driving a blue car in which case they don't use their mirrors!!!)
