can anyone clarify the exact penalties for speeding in france and Spain. I am doing a 2 week drive through europe following on from le mans and dont want to be hit with £1k fines every step of the way.

last year the general rule on the way to LM was about £75 for <130ish mph and £750 for 130mph +

any words of wisdom?

Look at the site below. It has all the camera poitions throughout France, and if you go through the site, you will find the list of fines etc. Just returened from 2 weeks over there, the main thing at the moment is drink driving. The gendarmerie are clamping down heavily throughout France, and the penalties are severe. If you need any other info., mail me.

They have also increased the number of in-car radars.
For example there is a new Mégane doing the A15 all night long in both directions.
They use laser guns in the night now too.

Im off to spain thru france in a fortnight.. thats pretty scary getting 1500yoyo fines. I need to get 500 miles a day in in order to get to barcelona in 2 days. Cant see me managing that under the speed limit..

My tip is " Dont waste your time going by car , book a club trip to the Isle of Man and you try your car out without worrying about driving bans and its far more interesting than supposedly driving if using a Motorway is driving, could learn more too !
The food over there should be agreeable,though I have yet to go ! Its only a suggestion ?
