Edinburgh visit recommendations please
Discussion
OH and I are visiting Edinburgh in August. Both been before and enjoyed what we saw at the time, looking for something different and interesting for this visit.
Festival is on when we go, so will be taking in a bit of that whilst we are there, but best tips are from personal experience, so learned chasps and chaspesses of PH, give us some pointers please!
Thanks in advance.

Visit the castle and stay around for the one o'clock gun.
The Scottish Parliment and Holyrood
The royal Mile will be packed with street preformers most of the time during the festival
The royal yacht Britannia at Leith
The National Museum of Scotland at Chambers street
The grassmarket and the Cowgate for some decent pubs and clubs to watch the football etc
Greyfriars Bobby statue across the road from the a fore mentioned museum(next to the pizza shop)
St Giles Cathedral (Take in the heart of Midlothian on the pavement outside. See here foe why http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_of_Midlothian_%... )
LHD should be along shortly to recommend some good places to eat
and depending on when you are coming there may be a PH drinks meet that you can join in with.

Err..just a bit
The place is rammed during the Fringe
Hopefully you've already booked up accomodation?
As for shows and whatnot, get some bookings in early - www.edfringe.com - a lot of things sell out fast, particularly the big name comedians.
Thank you guys.
Travel and hotel sorted, we are only there from Thursday to Saturday, looking for personal recommendations rather than brochure, tourist hotspots really.
On a budget (who isn't nowadays...) but still be able to enjoy ourselves. The Witchery looks lovely as far as eating goes, but may prove a stretch financially taking into account our other possible spends during the time there being Festival time and all that.
