Hotel near Munich recommendations?

My dad and myself are both BMW fans (despite the dealers) and want to go for a few days to Germany and take in the BMW museum and do a spot of touring - in a Beemer of course.

Anyone got any recommendations for a mid price hotel, in the country within easy rail/road travel to Munich but ideally a good base for touring?
