So after buying my bargain lens for £55 from Currys, I went to Bentwaters Airshow today where I attached to my 450d and took some shots.

No post processing, straight from the camera. I can see some softness, but with an overcast day and hand held with single point focussing I thought it handled it reasonably well: C&C welcomed.

55 notes well spent I would say. Nice shots too.

Some really great shots there, I always find it hard to make planes look like they are moving. Here are some recent ones i took with my 70-300mm Tamron trying to get them to look like they were moving not great shots but getting there with the motion.

If anyone has any tips I would be most grateful.

Thanks for the comments. I'm very much a beginner as I've never owned an SLR before and only had this for 6 months.

As such, my comments below should be treated as just the wittering of a newbie smile

With regard to getting a sense of movement; with a dull sky and no scenery it's always going to be difficult. I was lucky that some of the planes had smoke trails, which helps, but you've used a slower shutter speed than me, so you've got a nice blurred rotation on the prop, whereas mine are more static. A plane, mid air, with a stationary prop is guaranteed to look odd.

Cheers Dave, i will give you a wave if i see you up there soon. Its a good 300 mile round trip from Bromsgrove, but all so worth it. I took a friend and he was blown away by the shear awesomeness.

I am in awe of some of you photos, good stuff.

Or maybe not, local currys doesn't have it in stock, Unavailable from website (currys)

Any other outlets stocking this?
