I have decided with Mrs 71 that buying a 3rd car to run alongside her wee Suzuki Ignis and my MX5 is not really required, so this frees up some cash - I have roughly £1K to spend on goodies on my Montana biggrin

Now I can't decided which way to go...

Fit a whole new suspension kit, get the alignment done propoerly - this probably rules out buying new alloys (I'm not keen on the Dezents it is running ATM).

Or do I go for aesthetics instead, keep the standard ride height and fit some new wheels.

I love the minilight look, so really like Rota RBs - torn between graphite or gold - is gold too bling with BRG?

I have 2 concerns over these wheels - the place I am intending to order from sells the 8" wide with 195 tyres - too skinny?

I am also concerned that the lovely polished lip will be gone after 1 Scottish winter with the salt.

My other option is some Pro Race 1.2s as they are really light and look nice - thinking of going up to 16" with these - opinions?

Could I go wheels, with only lowered springs - would I kill the ride quality? Some folk who have fitted Eibachs on their own with standard shox seem to say the ride suffers.

I also need to buy a new backbox - gonna go for MX5Parts, so that's circa £150-£200 off the total.

I have to pay my mate who is fitting a new timing belt/water pump so that'll be around £100 away.

I could easily spend £2000 given the chance biggrin

Here are the Rotas in graphite

and gold

Anyone running any of these wheels on their MX care to share a photo?

Cheers folks,
Steven

I don't know enough to vote, but I'd be interested in other people's opinions, as I think Mrs Theboy's car could benefit from suspension fettling.

New Koni's. Leaving you £550 ish left.

Buy wheels second hand for a fraction of the price, theres nice wheels of all types coming up for sale really often. Even if you factor in the price of a refurb on all 4 and a set of tyres.

£550 goes an awful long way on nice 2nd hand bits for your car!

From that selection, Rota RBs in graphite would suit well, IMHO. Batty has them on a mariner blue Mk1 bow

I would spend the do$h on new shocks/geo, then buy some s/h wheels from nutz or similar.

Snotrag,

where have you seen Koni Sport Kit for £450?

It's currently over £500 at MX5parts and that's with 10% discount!

Factor in delivery, fitting and another £45 for proper alignment and the money starts to disapper fast.

I must admit, I used to run Tanabe Sustec coilovers on my old Prelude and a proper suspension setup does transform a car!

This is my daily driver, so it needs to remain practical (as practical as a 2 seater can be biggrin)

Cheer guys.

I think Larkspeed near me in Leeds do it for less than £450.

Any Koni dealer can get them though, so ask some of your local shops to get you a quote.
