I went a few years back. Not a lot to see or do to be honest. If you just want to lie by the pool or on the (albeit lovely) beaches thats fine. Very good for windsurfing too if that's your thing.
It's neither unspoilt or developed. A lot of building work going on.

There are two destinations you usually fly into from the UK, Sal and Boa Vista.

They both usually involve staying in the all inclusive Riu Hotel which are large and well equiped, the newer one is on Boa Vista. The riu hotels are large and have plenty of restaurants/bars with some evening shows if you like that sort of thing. The both have large pool areas and beaches.
Boa Vista is less developed island with almost nothing on it apart from the hotel and a small town to the north. The small town has nothing much in it and the rest of the island is flat and sandy like the moon.
Sal is slightly has more building and development going on. Some of it looks a bit of a building site TBH, the rest of the island is desert like Boa Vista.
From the two I would go to Boa Vista as the hotel is newer and the island is less spoilt. Neither islands have much beyond the hotels apart from long beaches with not much on them. It is often windy on the beach and the islands are popular with kite surfers. I think you can go quad biking on both islands.
Go if you want a quiet all inclusive hotel with good weather. Don't go if you want 'lads holiday' type action.

Barren and desolate places despite thier name.
Gorgeous beaches and weather.
San Antonia (sp?) is actually quite lush with vegetation but pretty remote.
I spent 10 days on Sao Vicente, largely because it has some of the best Marlin fishing in the world.
It is an extremely interesting place too.
Boa Vista and Sal are very touristy developed and have begun to resemble any typical European tourist destination.
Sao Vicente, on the other hand, Still feels like a piece of old Africa with few white people and colonial architecture.
I liked it a lot, as long as you ar aware that there isn't that much to do in the way of activities.
