I'm hoping to go to Croatia for a couple of weeks with a friend in early July.

We really just want some relaxation for a week and then maybe a few things to do for the second week - perhaps charter a boat for a few days... that kind of thing.

A bit of nightlife would be nice, provided its not in your face and can be avoided when required.

Does anybody have any recommendations for places to go - or to avoid? Hotels are fine, or maybe a villa somewhere.

I would definitely head to Dubrovnik, the old town is very pleasant and there are some nice restaurants and bars too. Probably the best spot for relaxing is on the islands starting with Hvar and maybe charter a boat from there or one of either Dubrovnik or Split and get out to some of the smaller islands. Beautiful country and I enjoyed my time there last year smile

I've bookmarked this one, as Croatia is on the shortlist for a 4 day last minute weekend break later this summer.

The road from Split to Dubrovnik is fantastic. Great coastal road, great views and the locals drive like lunatics once you get away from the tourists smile

Stayed in Brac last year, just across from Hvar, both lovely islands, Dubrovnik is a must as is Split if your in the area. Further North and Rovijn is very nice.

Dalmation white wine is very crisp and pleasant for a warm summers evening.

Lot's of Italian influences in the food.

The Ice Cream is lovely, plenty of good fish and steak as well.

Trogir is a nice place to visit, or Plitvice Lakes.

Any of the islands are worth a trip out to, plenty of stunning views and if you're lucky get to see dolphins. Most of the islands have small marinas / somewhere to moor up if you're going to hire a boat.

Porec is nice but watch the marble cobbles they can get mega slippy, fun watching the beautiful people (Italians mostly) go head over heels though.
