Just in the off chance that anyone is aware of a convertible with a smashed windscreen, the police would be interested in hearing from you.

Surely with the plethora of CCTV which tracks our every move, one of the largest cities in the UK would have some pointed on the roads in the City Centre?!

“Alastair was struck by a dark-coloured twin top convertible which failed to stop. Travelling alongside this vehicle was a Corsa, which managed to avoid Alastair."

What's a twin top?

I was thinking of both those points exactly!!
Maybe this is police talk for we have it on cctv on the next street, we just need someone to have witnessed it at this junction?

Hopefully making all the local windscreen repairers aware of this will help …

i've just had an email about this from a local site, i hope they catch the b#####d or he/she grows a set and hands her/himself in.

hopefully the corse driver reads it and realises they are not in the running for it but the information they have will be very much the best way of convicting this person!

There seems to be a scene of modified/max-power type cruisers that inhabit the city center at night. Most of the time I've seen them, it's just loud music and cherry-bomb exhausts. Not my cup of tea, but good luck to them.. they obviously take pride in their cars, and it's not as if they're racing up and down residential streets. I've never seen any crazy driving from them, the times I've been in town. I imagine if there were, the police would clamp down on it in no time. Seems like so long as it's confined to the city center and well behaved, they're happy to watch from a distance, which is fair enough I guess.

Sounds like this incident was a bit of a race.. for two cars to shoot through a red light in the city center is insane. Not to mention the usual drunken revellers stepping out from behind parked cars, staggering across the road, etc. Hope they find the culprit!

Unless the guy had false plates on, I find it difficult to understand how he's not been caught yet.

There's a huge amount of cctv in the city center, and surely he must have been caught on at least a few cameras in the blocks surrounding the incident.

That's all they seem to do,im in town alot most nights and most of them just seem to race each other from the lights and dodging in and out of each other.

Also had the pleasure the other week of a group pointing green laser pointers at people as they kept going passed.

Fair enough, that sort of behavior should be stopped. Most of the time I'm in the city center, traffic is heavy and they're just stuck in queues with their subwoofers and dubious exhausts. Like I say, not my cup of tea, but if they're going to do it, the city center is the place - rather than somewhere quiet and residential.

As for racing and speeding in that area, that's insane. Anytime I've driven there at night (I try to avoid it!), people are just walking onto the road like zombies, stepping into your path, totally oblivious to anything.

Weird report on news tonight mentioned everything except car type! Thought if they were looking for a specific car the teatime news was the place to mention it
