Folks, my memory is rubbish, and Google ain't much help, so can someone here tell me if there has ever been a British 1-2 at Silverstone or any other British GP venue? Looks to be a good bet this year.

Only if the Red Bull's break, otherwise they are going to slaughter the rest of the field.
yes Yup. I'm with you on that.

Going back a bit...I'm sure there's a more recent one but Clark/Hill 1964 came into my head first....

I agree with others though that it's fundamentally a track that should favour RB

Provided they're reliable and there's no silly mistakes, Silverstone and Hockenheim will see the Red Bulls run away with it.

They aren't reliable and make lots of silly mistakes though don't they? smile Perhaps I should have asked about 3-4s though, but will be interesting to see what happens.

And assuming what Martin Whitmarsh is describing as 'a new car' upgrade for Silverstone isn't any faster.

Irvine doesn't count in my head... I barely consider him human... Though how I missed one in 1999 and remembered 1964 when I'm 28 is beyond me!!! smile

There have been six 1-2s out of eight races so far this year. I wonder if this is a record already.

at a punt McLaren in 88 might have been close but I actually have no idea so I'll just shut up and stay at the back...

I don't recollect McLaren having two British drivers in 1988? confused

They won all but one race so you might be right...

In 1958, the first 4 home were all British:

Collins
Hawthorn
Salvadori
Lewis-Evans

I would think that this was some sort of record....

Anyway here's the answer:

1958 Silverstone, 1 Peter Collins, 2 Mike Hawthorne
1962 Aintree 1 Jim Clark, 2 John Surtees
1963 Silverstone 1 Jim Clark, 2 John Surtees
1964 Brands Hatch 1 Jim Clark, 2 Graham Hill
1965 Silverstone 1 Jim Clark, 2 Graham Hill
1999 Silvestone 1 Coulthard, 2 Irvine

What you notice is that with six British GP wins Jim Clark was rather special as was Mansell with four but you asked about British GP one/twos so that's what I've listed. Also in the 60s there were a few British one/two/three/fours and even a British top five!

me neither, however there haven't been 6 British 1-2's this year either which I believe was the specific statement/question I was replying to...

I thought we were aiming at most 1-2 finishes in a season regardless of driver nationality...

Only one English 1-2 then!

Ah, that's a good point, well made but the OP said British 1-2 so I'll stand by the answer I gave in the previous post wink
