Hi All,

As the title says it is our first weeding anniversary on independence day, ironic I know. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to go for a week? Can't be too far so only 2-3 hour flight as have a 9 month old so wouldn't want to do long haul at the minute.

Trying to think of somewhere different from the usual group of Spain etc.

Cheers

We did (6 years ago now, wow),

Rome & Venice for our first anniversary. No little ones in tow, although at 9 months they'll be chair bound anyway, so you should be fine, anyway Italians love bambino's. 4 days in Rome & 2/3 in Venice, travelled from Rome to Venice on the train lovely journey in comparison to our rail network.

Rome was amazing, Venice was great but not that much really going on at the end of February might be different in the summer (oh apparently it can get a bit smelly).

I did suggest Venice for a weekend but she said she wants to go away for a week. I never thought about Rome first, never been to either so will look into that in a bit.

Thanks for the suggestion.

It is a little longer than a 3 hour flight, but I heard Baghdad is good this time of year.

Plenty of sun and sand.

Keep away from Mosques on a Friday, American checkpoints and shifty looking characters in markets.

Take turns to do the sightseeing. One of you be the tourist, the other be on the lookout for suicide bombers, American gunships and pickpockets.....then you alternate.

It will really strengthen your relationship......you'll thank me for it.

Shame. You could have a BLOODY good time.

Holiday in Baghdad. Never have the words 'It's good to be back home' resonated so loud.
