I have finally purchased a radio controlled aeroplane after wanting to do it since I was a nipper! smile

I managed to steer away from the exciting Spitfires & Mustangs!! As much as I was gagging to get one I realized it would be stupid as a trainer!!

So I have got myself a Hobbyzone Supercup, this is a 47.7" span electric. It comes totally complete with 3S batteries, radio & charger.

I'm rather looking forward to this smile it even has anti crash sensors, if it detects imminent disaster it will recover the aircraft. This may be rather over utilised... hehe
it can be switched off though once more confident.

Let's see what happens biggrin

Great plane, but if I was you I would get it to a good height before relying on the anticrash.

Superb plane though, and a great passtime

good luck!!

Have a look at some of the available RC simulators.

Here's a demo of Realflight...

http://www.realflight.com/free-g4-demo.html

I use Aerofly, here's the latest version...

http://www.aerofly.com/gallery_en.html

Pheonix is another well regarded sim, demo here...

http://www.phoenix-sim.com/downloads_demo.htm

The reversal of controls when the aircraft is flying towards you can be difficult to get used to at first, the simulators are good for practising.

Also, remember that you need insurance, contact your local RC flying club and they will tell you everything you need to know and provide tuition as well.

Have fun.

I found this difficult, particularly trying to keep the wings level when landing. The person who taught me to fly suggested that if your're facing the model, with it approacing you "move the stick under the wing that's dropping" (rudder or aileron stick depending on the model obviously). If you know the model is coming towards you, you just do exactly that, and you don't need to think about orientation.

Ok, no sign of the plane! So called them up...out of stock.. Didn't occur to let me know!!

Anyway have upgraded to a bigger one, it's a Cessna, that has realistic slow moving flaps & nav lights!
500 aMah motor, big wing span.. I
will find a link.

The cub is a great starter plane. Ok so its 3 channel but the rudder stick is on the right so progressing to ailerons is not as difficult as first would seem
I spent most of last summer trying to fly the cub from somewhere I didnt want it to go. Eventually control seems to become more instinctive and then 4 channel is the way forward. I grafted 2,4 Futuba system into the cub and with spare wings available, fitted a set of ailerons to them. To boost power a 3 cell lipo fitted into the battery compartment ( The new cub is already lipo powered
12 months on and I am really enjoying the hobby. Current fleet includes a Stryker a seagull spacewalker and Lander panther
Hope that the Cessna is as forgiving as the cub. Would suggest hand launch in a field of long grass for first flights

Shame, been keeping an eye on this thread as I have always been tempted to try a plane and this one seemed to suit the pocket and my lack of flying ability hehe
Trouble is with the ACT everytime I come in to land it probably thinks its gonna crash so I wont be able to land it until the battery runs flat hehe

as for trying to get this back on topic, i've wanted a plane for some time, but lack of room would make it impossible to fly

Thanks, we enjoyed hosting it smile

Have plenty of space for a plane at our track and I can imagine trying to do flypasts of the rostrum or landing it on the straight during race days hehe
