The car has done approx 29200 miles and is due a service (idrive says 1800miles) so is booked in for just over 2 weeks, and am just wondering what is going to be done and how much cost to expect.

so far at 1020 miles it had an oil change, at 16566 miles it had engine oil, micro-filter, and air cleaner element (no new brakes, spark plugs, vehicle check, brake fluid and mobility system done.

so presumably this is going to be "the big" inspection II service is it? including new plugs, oil, gearbox oil, diff oil etc? any idea on what to expect to pay from a main dealer?

also, is castrol EDGE 10-W60 ok to use? BMW usually supply 10W-60 castrol TWS but nowhere seems to stock that, i believe EDGE is the replacement?

thanks guys,

Ross.

As far as i'm aware the newer BMW's follow a service routine that is as follows.

Oil - Inspection 1 - Oil - Inspection 2

And so on, so you're service due is an inspection 1 I believe.

If it's an E92, then it will have condition based servicing.

If you go into the i-drive it will tell you what needs done.

thanks guys. it's booked in for the 1st July but is going in for some new Michelin PS2's for the back today for £610, was the cheapest i could find for 265/35 R19.

the 1st oil change was the run-in service so don't think an inspection I was done then, so i believe it's an inspection II. will soon find out!!

cheers

Where did you end up getting the PS2's from? I will need a service for mine in the next month and some new rear tyres as well.

They used to be, I've always found local tyre shops will match their prices these days, and don't let them touch your tracking!!

Don't use Wembley Tyres.

They'll tell you they have the correct BMW star rated PS2s in stock, confirm it to you when you get there and then put on Porsche Boxter N1 PS2s instead.

Then when you call them out, the boss will say they are correct and that he should know as he has an M3 as well.

that's not very good at all, they are seriously expensive tyres, i'd demand money back.
