Chaps,

Got a Blaupunkt DAB stereo in my car, but the DAB connector on the back has become mangled and unusable. Disconnected the cable from the internal board and removed it with both connectors (I snipped the wire to see if I could use something else but no joy).

I'm not too hot on electricals; does anyone know where I can get a small cable made up with two new connectors on the end as shown below? Some sort of electrical shop? I don't really know what sort of connectors they are....google would suggest they are SMB/SMC connectors. The smaller one is ~2mm diameter and the larger is 3mm.

Many thanks in advance

Tank

You can get thoose connectors from maplin, all you need is the crimp tool. I'm sure we will have them at work. I think the cable is RG178 which we also have.

If you get the right connectors, I'm sure I can make you one up.

Thanks Martin, I'll wander over to Maplins on the weekend and see if they have any. You're a star. If you need any computers fixing then let me know. smile

I'm presuming you crimp the actual connector sleeve itself to hold the wire in place?

You strip the cable back (connector will come with a drawing showing dimensions). You then solder the inner (signal) to the internal pin and then crimp the sleeve around the braid (screen)and insulation. You then put the cap on (Either solder or just dent it) to cover up the hole that is used to solder the inner on.
