Anyone been to Goa?

I’m travelling to Goa with my girlfriend in November and was just wondering if anybody could recommend any places to go/stay.

Ideally we are after a nice beach that’s not too crowded and noisy but where we still have things to do such as water sports, few bars and restaurants etc. I also like the idea of staying in a beach hut but would prefer something of a decent standard rather than a 2-bit shack.

Be good to hear from someone who's been.

Stayed there a few times - not bad.

Personaly prefer South Goa as it is quieter withnicer beaches (IMO).

Stayed in Goa about 10 years ago. 2 weeks accommodation and flight were the same as 24 hours in the Fort Aguada. KingFisher beer was 3 times the price of the bars on the beach but was a very nice 24 hours.

Goa is a little different now with loads of Thomson Hotels with pools looking little different from their Spanish counterparts.

I liked it back then and the beaches, beach bars and fish suppers were great.

I have never been to the rest of India but from what my friends say I would call Goa "India Lite".
