Hi all,

Just make sure that you check your engine mounts.

2003 T350 which has only completed 6000 miles, I thought that the mounts were okay but after removing the engine found that the nearside one under the exhaust manifold was in two parts. Engine had dropped and one of the flexible oil hose connections has been rubbing on the under tray and has almost worn through!

Yep, N/S mount is by the exhaust and goes first. I had mine changed last week, £125 at Str8Six.

Had mine done recently too - I believe they take some serious heat which is why they need changing so much, looking at the heat shield this weekend I don't think they get much protection.

I believe mine has been done nearly every annual service and maybe some of the interim one's too.

Good shout for all owners to keep an eye on.

They shouldn't be going that quickly! Are you doing 24hr races in your cars or something?

I just bought these for my Tuscan. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Morgan-8-4-4-4-TVR-Engine-mo...
Very competitively priced as they seem to be a service item!

Got replacement engine mounts in November last year, they lasted 400 miles before falling apart (shuddering in reverse, whining sound from engine area, etc.)

Got the "hard" versions and apart from the slight cold vibration (which I'm used to now) its been fine smile

Take the cats out, surely that would save the engine mount.

Not everyone wants the additional noise or hassle of doing this though.

Jim,

Can you tell me where you got the 'hard' versions and are they still OK?

Cheers
John

No idea, the local servicer took care of it for me.. They still seem OK (no problems) but she's going in for a service in the next few weeks.

It's the heat transfer from the bracket that passes between the manifolds that kills the rubber mount.

Has anyone tried placing a heat insulating gasket material between the bracket and the mount mating surfaces to reduce the heat transfer? On the face of it, seems like an obvious solution??

These things go all the time unfortunately...

However, I am currently trialling one of Str8Six's ceramic engine mounts, so will have to see how it goes - it's been in since September 10, hopefully it lasts longer than the standard ones!

Are they much more than the original part?
