Recently inherited my dads WW2 Omega, which currently doesn't have a strap, the original strap rotted away aparently. My Mum remembers that originally it had a 'Canvas' type strap.
Anyone know of a supplier of these straps?
I've searched the web without success. and my local Omega dealer in Caaaaaardiff wasn't interestedfrown
However every independant dealer I've shown the watch to wants to buy it, so it must be a simple job to replace the strap.

Are you able to post a scan of that?

May I suggest sourcing the correct materials and having one made?

ETA - possibly this? http://www.thewatchbarn.com/cart/military_straps/0...

ETFA - Could it have been Calf http://www.ofrei.com/page976.html some of these look like canvas due to the pattern but are calf

Nice onethumbup the Canvas strap looks good i've copied the picture and will show it to my mum, to see if it's similar to the original, I know the original was khaki in colour - one problem though the strap posts are fixed on the watch so it needs a different type of strapfrown

One thing that isn't clear is the lugwidth. The link I provided was for a 16mm one. That said, since it's fixed lugs, that suggestion is out of the window.

I doubt the original strap was an Omega item, it sounds like it's an issue WD canvas strap, which means you won't get an original one, and you won't want an original one....believe me they were useless. I have an unused one somewhere in my collection, and would never consider putting it on a watch.

The ones posted in the links are very good modern equivilents and I would go with any of those.

Here's another site worth looking at for leather rather than canvas. Most servicemen of the time, especially those serving in the Far East, prefered a leather strap anyway, because the canvas ones rotted through so quickly.

Edit: for forgetting the ruddy link frown

http://watchdoc.tripod.com/bands.htm , but I'd agree with the above. Are the lugs 17mm?

Here's a good geeky read that may fill in some background/offer a few suggestions/ideas:

Aero and everyone else who replied.
Great links - many thanksthumbup
I'll buy one of each strap and use whichever looks the most original to my mum;) [If none look original I'll be back searching for more suggestions]
Lugs are 18.5mm [3/4"]? or as near as I can measure. So I guess 18mm will fit OK
thanks once againthumbup

It will fit but you'll see the gap. My CWC G10 has a slight gap as the strap is 18mm on a 18.5mm lug. See if you can get one that measures in inches more closely.
