I popped into my local watch shop to get a battery put into an old ebel watch I was going to e bay. They said it had to be sent off as the case needs to be resealed at a cost of £40, which seemed a bit steep.
Is this the case or am i being duped? Is there anywhere I can send it myself to have the battery changed?
Thanks
G

Most high end watches have to repaired by the manufacturer, £40 sounds pretty cheap to me

At local indie jeweller I should add. Takes a week as they send it away

40-50 quid is the going rate for a battery replacement and reseal for my Rolex Oysterquartz so sounds about right.
