Oh god I love my car
Discussion
Sunny morning, countryside route to my new place of work.
Roof down, shades donned.
Turn out of a T onto a long and twisty country B road.
Floor it in 1st. A lot of noise.
Into 2nd, slick change off the clutch, and bam. Up the range to 4, 5, 6k - supercharger whining, what a noise!
Into 3rd, bit notchy (my driving...) but in, slight pop from the Larini. Repeat as above, with a nice shove in the back and getting to serious leptons.
Ease off the gas, and listen to the Larini burble.
Life is bliss.
Sorry, had to share it!

Awesome!
My similar experience in Birmingham with a standard 1.6.
Roof down, blinded by the sun due me wearing specs and being too much of a tight arse to purchase prescription sunglasses!
Turn out onto a traffic jam, sit and wait.
Floor it in 1st, nearly crash into an old biddies Micra.
Finally get to a quiet road.
Boot it in first, little bit of noise.
Into 2nd, click change off the clutch and woosh.
Into 3rd, no noise from the exhaust at all. Repeat as above, with very little shove in the back and approaching about 70ish.
Ease of the gas and listen to the..........radio.
Roof down, hair blowing in the wind, feeling like I’m doing a million miles and hour and then get overtaken easily by a Chelsea tractor!
Life is bliss, slow but bliss none the less.

Still love my 5 though, I think it's these reasons why I love it so much

This is what makes the MX5 special. When my mates and even strangers take the p*** out of my '5, I just smile at their ignorance knowing the fun I have in mine.

My thoughts exactly, even had a S2000 owner give me a little head shake in piss take. wiped that off his face when he couldnt shake me through the lanes!

Yep!Monday night, on the way to the Ace Cafe..
Grey skys..
Roof down..
Rain.
Not that much, but we had rain and I've not done topless in rain before.. It was brilliant! Had a thumbs up and some very weird looking faces at me, and I felt sorry for them in their 3dr hatchback car cramped in the back whilst I was there, wind in the hair, no heaters, t-shirt on and it was just good

I just drove the long way home with the roof down and it started raining - funny, I didn't get wet. Must be something to do with airflow....
Anything over about 40mph (or 50mph if you are taller like me) and you stay dry.
I was once in a rainstorm on the M25 that was so hard I had the wipers on double speed to see anything... bone dry at 60mph and upwards

ds - I've been without my 5 for almost a month now, still trying to patch it up for the nice man from VOSA. It's sunny outside and as if having the roof down to aid removal of carpet and seats wasn't temptation enough, you had to go and post this sort of stuff!
