I went along to the P1 SuperStock event in Penzance a few weeks ago and it was amazing. The racing was pretty close and further inshore than I'd thought it would be. Here is the highlight vid

Oh crikey, not this again.

I thought from your last posts that you were actually competing?

The last time you did a press release here, it didn't go unnoticed....

Oh sod it as we're all advertising

http://www.thepowerfestival.co.uk/events.html

http://www.cowes2010.co.uk/

Real racing.

Neither of which P1 is supporting as they seem to need mid five figure sums from the organisers to turn up with five boats. sleep

Oh and as you are so up on P1 what has happened to the series for supersport and evolution. You know, the last lot you dumped at the beginning of the season.

What did happen to P1 Evolution and Supersport classes? I was only catching up with last years videos and now they have gone. The classes have been replaced by some cheap and cheerful recreational boats, rather than what were the ultimate racing machines.

In April with only a few months to go to the start of season P1 decided to pull out of organising it and taking all their tv rights etc with them. The UIM have stepped in to try to salvage it but it's going to be difficult with no backers.

http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20100610...

So a set of classes decimated and competitors left in some cases with £1/2m of investment in a new boat for the season with nowhere to compete.

Whilst all this was going on Honda pulled out of sponsoring their series a couple of years back and sold the rights to F4SA who managed to take a fleet of 40 odd and reduce racing numbers down to the low 20's through stiffing people for cash etc and they sold on the rights to P1.

So P1 this year come up with the bright idea of dumping the supersport and evolution classes and creating superstock which is the old hondas but with a twist that you have to buy a new merc 300 engine to replace your honda 225 (through them of course).

So far they've managed to race with 6 300's and 6 of the old 150's which as the fella above says is spectacular laugh

Oh and when they get an offer to support other classes they come up with bull about wanting huge attendance money. Funny enough they don't get invited much!

They also claim to be organising racing in the good ole USofA. (Pinch of salt) and have managed to somehow wedge past the RYA a whole set of new classes for ribs on tight circuit courses. Certain individuals are watching carefully to see the risk assessments for this ludicrous course of action.

Other than that I'm not sure what's happened. confused

rolleyes name me one person on Guernsey that has spent 1500 quid or are you including a season of fuel. laugh

Good to see the nutcase mentality is paying off over there. Are any of them coming over for Harwich or Cowes?

I Live in Penzance.

The whole lot was balls, The boats were quite far out, the organisers closed the road along the promenade and thanks to the frankly idiotic way one way system we have in the town none of the traffic to and from the event really knew where to go, the whole event was not well attended in terms of overall numbers.

I popped along to see a few guys having fun in a few boats. It was not me having the fun so I lost interest and walked about a bit. got bored and fked off again.

Total money spent by me was £0

Great for the town that. Although I would happily have paid a fiver to have been warned it was pants.

No, I think one boat spent the £1500 on Stella and Guernsey-Cowes is a whole new different night out.

A mix of local promoters failing and lack of response from teams is the word on the web - Correct me if it's not the case. I had a good crack in Penzance biggrin I'm 100% up for having a go at this as seems accessible for people like me

Er, no, strictly speaking, you've come here to do a press release for something you're working for in a professional capacity. Like most of your other threads that you start, which all lead back to your own website.

Your post history shows this very clearly.

Any BTW, if you're a web editor, you might want to learn how to use apostrophes properly.

Plurals do not require apostrophes.

PH - Apostrophes matter.

This should be good Mr G. Any links?

My understanding is that the racing is still happening under the auspices of the UIM who were thoroughly pissed off with P1 just dumping them. I guess if the races are still happening then lack of response from the teams is not quite the case?

And if you're so keen to go racing why haven't you looked at OCR or Class 3 there's plenty of it happening close to you with more boats turning out?

Bluesheets ran a release - have a read http://www.bluesheets.co.uk/dnn/racing/News/Articl...

I'll have a look at OCR and Class 3 leads that you've suggested. A friend of mine also races ZapCats which looks mental! http://www.zapcat-racing.com/
