I have been having problems with the family car recently - a Renault megane scenic 1.6 auto. It will turn over but not fire up.
It has got progresively worse to the point today where my wife got stranded as it refused to start.
Breakdown service came out, looked under the bonnet, said the battery was original (10 years old) and knackered. Put on jump leads and fired up immediately.
Could it be as simple as this, as it still turns over at a fair old rate even when it would not start and I hooked it up to a battery conditioner and it said that the battery was fully charged.
Any advice would be welcome before I line Renault's pockes with the £130 they want to replace it.
Thank you.
Andy

if it fired up straight away with the jump leads, then yeh theres a good chance the battery is cream crackered.

replace the battery, but dont pay renault to do it because £130 is a joke.

if you get the same problem after replacing the battery, then its likely the alternator could be mullered and not charging the battery properly

hope that helps smile
