Hi there, Can anyone help me. Instead of boring you all I will just give you the details, I have a 206 with a private plate, also have disabled tax on it (as im my stepsons carer) and I am buying a new car in next few days.
What forms etc do i need to fill in to change 1- my plate, 2- my tax etc?
Someone told me I can do it all at the dvla local office, is this true?
And only thing I would need to do then is change my insurance, or wait, wont i need to do that first to get my tax? But then i'll have to pay extra charge for changing my registration plate / And then once done i can claim back money for tax that was on new car when i got it??

What is happening to the 206? Are you trading it in against the new car?

You need:
1. V5 aka Log book,
2. The tax disc itself (disabled one),
3. Insurance & MOT that are current for the car to tax,
4. Visit you local DVLA office so it's done instantly or post it snail mail 7-10 days.

If your buying a new car send of to the DVLA for a retention document for the plate & take that with you to the dealer where your buying a car. Have you told the dealer you've got a private plate? If not do so and they'll tell you £105 for plate retention. It'll take 7-10 days if it's a used car or should be right on with a new car.

You'll get a new tax disc for the relevant time you had left from the disabled one.
