Hi everyone,

The lovely amazing superb and beautiful (yes she's sitting next to me) girlfriend has said we can have either one, or perhaps 3, prints/posters for the lounge wall.

It's a predominantly brown room so preferably sepia or b&w, but first thoughts were the Steve McQueen two fingers poster. However, because such a big wall she suggested three similar ones, so considering that and a 917 plus something else.

Anyhow, the purpose of my post is that I'm sure there was a thread in this forum with many great suggestions of iconic car prints, but using only the google search I'm unable to find it.

Does anyone remember the thread I'm thinking if?

Thanks very much
Tony (and Gina!!)

I have these two that I'm rather fond of... I'm also a fan of Pop Art and have loads of them, they're not expensive. Go to Ebay and just type in Pop art, you'll get thousands of them 'Pop up'

I do like the pop art stuff too - in fact, Gina's been given the dining room and I've been given the lounge to choose for, and I think she's going to go for something in that style! So, winners all round smile

Have a look at jackals stuff at www.parabolique.co.uk. I'm sure you can get images direct from him, I can put them on (large) canvas if you need it doing.

nerd Given that your front room is neutral in tone I think you should go for colour illustration or photograph. Monochrome will blend into the walls whereas colour will be a nice contrast and add depth to the room.

Some lovely ones here:

Bit late on the thread here, sorry. I got a glorious print of Nuvolari in the Alfa 8C-35 which was taken by George Monkhouse. There is a couple who regularly appear at Goodwood, Race Retro, etc. who I bought it from and they have a few which are similar. I cannot recommend them highly enough, but I'm buggered if I can recall the company name. There is also a nice set of B & W Ferrari prints knocking around. They produced a series of reasonably-sized prints for dealerships and so on. They have one for each year of their participation in GP racing and take an official Ferrari parts number. I have Gilles in the 126 C2 adjacent to Nuvolari in my living room - the greatest Scuderia heroes.

Good luck with your search and you know that if you go for a painting instead then Tim Layzell is on PH and is probably the finest exponent of automotive art in the world at the moment...

It's great isn't it? Have you decided on any yet?

Thanks for the tip, Chevron, I'll hunt those out!

Still not decided on one - we quite like the idea of a tryptic (sp?) - but choosing the image is difficult. So much pressure, I tell you! Loads that I think "awesome image", but not one that I think "yes, that will fit" !

Will update here when we've chosen smile

No worries, I'm fortunate that my missus is very tolerant (and I own the house) so the whole place is covered in automotive art. If you're off to Goodwood next week you're bound to find something you like there, even if you don't before.

Saw a website recent (can't for the life of me remember the name) the guy was the official photographer for the film LeMans, the images were amazing and all available as prints.

A triptych would work well. I'd wait for the "Yes, that's the one" moment though as you'll have to live with them for a long time and it is a big expense. It's taken me six months to think about which walls to hang my photographs and prints on. And that's just thinking about the placement having got the prints already. I'm a bit precious though, as you well know.

This one is my favourite so far:

Bluebird at Bonneville by Jack Vettriano

But I think it is hard to judge having not seen the room in which it is to be hung (and that isn't a hint to you and your lovely better half Tony biglaugh )

Got this Vettriano on my bedroom wall - the missus is as much of a petrolhead as I am thankfully!

Both are part of the seven-painting Bluebird Collection - you can see them all here (click on view larger images)
