Land Locked Nob!!!!
Discussion
What is it with councils cutting corners! There is only one road in and out of our village and the council have decided a good dollop of stone chips are in order. If that’s not bad enough they have done every route leading to our village road. Wouldn't be that bad if other plonks didn't insist on going 40+ mph, even had one Audi cxck overtake me! Looks like my nobs not coming out for a couple of weeks at least.

It's called top dressing and it's actually a way of stopping the road deterioating over the winter, and so is more expensive in the short term than doing nothing, but saves them money over the long term.
The one disadvantage as you've found out is that there is a good amount of non-stick grit after the inital application. However they should sweep it with a road sweeper twice, once after one day, once after a week. After week 2 it should be fine to go down in a Noble without the noise of a thousand stones hitting the wheel arch.
They've done my main village road, and after week 2 it was fine.
There is even an association that sets the guidelines
