Landscape vs Scenery
Discussion
I was reflecting tonight on what is the difference between a good landscape and just a shot of scenery. I settled on composition and maybe interesting lighting. On the basis on holidays non-candid portraits will be hard to come by I'll have to settle for landscapes but what makes a great picture?
'Landscape' sounds better than 'Scenery'
At a push I'd say 'Landscape' suggests time and effort has been spent on composition and light, while 'Scenery' suggests a more point-and-click approach.
In reality it can't be anywhere near as clear cut as that, as Simpo said above, it's in the eye of the beholder.

As opposed to an apiary. Which is in the hands of the bee-holder.....Semantics.....

Take a photo and see if you like it - I've taken a photo recently of a tractor which I like - some might say it's a bit rubbish, but it's random and I like it
And surely that's the point. Take photos that you like! Unless of course you're working to someone elses brief.. lol.
I shoot what I do for my amusement, if someone else likes it then so much the better but it's not the be all. Mind you, I don't mind a bit of constructive crit either. That's how you learn to improve.
