Looking to take the missus away for a weekend break as she has been so stressed out at work recently.

We just want to go somewhere with a few places of interest, a bit of quaintness and a relaxing vibe.

Potentials are Bath, Cheltenham and Stratford-upon-Avon...

Anywhere else people would recommend? Based in Hertfordshire and wanting to not drive more than 2-3 hours to get to our destination.

Southwold - lovely place, very relaxed, nice place for a walk along the beach and several pubs and restaurants.

Bear in mind Bath is pretty packed at the weekends throughout the summer, so your first choice of hotel/restaurant etc may not be available.

I'd say Cheltenham, but I'm biased. wink

Music festival coming up in a couple of weeks if you're in to that sort of thing.

Saying that, we love Bath too. It's much bigger than Cheltenham.

Surrounding areas of Cheltenham are rather nice, lots of places to fill a weekend.

If you decide on Cheltenham, post back and I'll give you some pointers of nice places to visit locally.

Thanks for the replies all!

Booked to stay a mile outside Bath in a nice country guesthouse.

Fingers crossed for the weather!

I live near Stratford, and I really can't see the attraction unless you want to go to the theater. There's not a lot there for a weekend, so it's more of a base for other stuff like Warwick Castle, Broadway and stuff.

My choice would be St. Davids. Bit of a trek, but a lovely place with plenty to do around the area for weekend.
