Afternoon all, finally got round to buying myself a DSLR, a Sony Alpha A230, decided to arrange a little night shoot at Wembley Stadium with some friends after the ACE Cafe meet on Monday to try out some long exposures. Just finished processing these images and just felt like sharing biggrin

All are also on Facebook:

And in Hi-Res on Flickr:

Jonny671's Mazda MX-5 1.8iS:

This is my favorite shot from the night:

My 2nd favorite:

A mkIV VW Golf GTI 1.8T:

Not so happy with the Golf shots as it was hard to focus on and to get any detail being black with black wheels...

And finally my Megane:

I like this one. Be really cool if you'd stopped the car at the far end so you could see the image of it smaller in the distance - does that make sense?

Good pics thumbup

Thanks Mark, I think I know what you mean, if you look dead-centre you can just about see the car further down.

Ps. Sorry Nick(NWVT), some of your MiTo/Tuscan images inspired me to have a go myself

Interesting idea, not at all easy to pull off with a dark car in a bright location.

I did something similar to the OP a few months back

Yes, in fact the last one shows it a little clearer.

Ah, that's brilliant, same location as Nick's, no? I don't know why I did it in reverse, probably made it harder than I needed!

And I didn't say impossible or that I won't give it a try wink

Back on topic, good to welcome another SC photog. Think you've captured the location well and at an interesting time of day. Finding the BG too dominating for a car phototbh, although really liking the starburst off your streetlights.

Aaah, it's a great idea, I may head back there later and try again... Not certain on that yet, been out in the garden doing a few portrait shots, i.e me in multiple places within one shot. Poor camera needs a rest!

Thanks, it's taken too long to get me a DSLR! I was planning to head down to some waste land near London City Airport, but we realised how close we were to Wembley and I thought it'd be nice to get the arches in the back ground and was hoping the car park would have some lights as I don't yet have any external flashes or lights. Having such a wide shot does mean I've lost some of the detail in the car though, you're right smile

Really? Are they that bad? I tend to use them to frame the image, don't tend to like them without, not sure why...

Not wanting to willy wave but mine in May was 3 months before yours in August. I think it's the location in my shot that the OP was referring to as Nick's used it a few times since tagging along on my Diablo shoot.

I'll give you Stoney Cross but I tend not to use places that have been done to death by others before me tongue out

Thank you! Took a while to find our way in, worth it in the end though I think, shame the arches weren't illuminated though frown

As I've said on Facebook. Good pictures, Tom!

Maybe we should try it a little earlier next time too, so its hopefully lighter for more details.

I also think the London City Airport bit would be good.

We shall do that at some point, when a little lighter, though it may be an idea to stay until a little later so the runway lights come on behind the cars?

The lights I'd imagine will be on way before its dark smile
