To Le Mans and back in the S.
What a great weekend. Started out by travelling down to Folkstone to catch the chunnel train.
But not before staying in a Travel Lodge. Busy as you can imagine.... we turned up one night early.
My pal had booked us in for the saturday not friday. Luckily they had one room left.
Get up next day and travel to the train. My first time.
On train no problem. Get to France within 30 minutes and then the train breaks down !
3 hours later we get pulled into the station. Cars start their engines. Everyone elses car except mine ! Bu&&er !!!
Get pushed off train but not before holding up about 80 vehiecles !!
Usual banter TVR stuff etc ... ah well.
Thinks of calling out the break down cover but instead telephone Steve Gugi at http://www.guglielmimotorsport.co.uk/ Daventry Northants.
Describe symptons and steve suggests looking under the steering. I played (wiggled) a few wires and the car starts. Off we go.
6 hours later after passing Le mans we arrive in our little quiet village. Think I woke the locals up.
The only thing that makes any noise arounf there are the cows !
Next day drive to le mans, make a phone call to our pal who confirms some good news... we have a pass to use the box at Beachdean/Mansell.
Then spend the next weekend watching the race from the box and enjoy some nice hospitality.
Sadly Nigel out with a punture and crash !
Driving home on monday we conk out again with the same fault. This time the wiring was very very loose.
We patched them up and tied some cloth to them to hold them together.
We needed to avoid any bumps as this could finally break the wire completely.
If any of you have seen the `Father Ted driving the milk float scene you can imagine the `feel`!
Anyhow, got home after 9 hours of driving no problem.
Who says TVR`s are unreliable eh ?
Car now back in the pits getting `hard wired` new exhaust down pipes and mot today.
MOT - It passed..get the car back on friday.
Hhhmmm. wonder where this weekend..... Scotland perhaps.

Did you manage to tear yourself away from the box and get to the Arnage corner after dark?
We've gotta meet up again soon, perhaps one evening in a couple of weeks? I'm a bit busy in the build up to the LM Classic but will have more time after that, drop me a PM and we'll sort something out

Didnt get to Arnage.
Reason being getting fed to well at the Beachdean hospitality (with free beer) then watching england play badly and then just wanting to hang around the back of the Dunlop curve til 4am. I finally caught some sleep from 4-6am. 2 hours !!!!!!!!!!
Then got up early to watch some more cars before a full english back at hospitality !
Not enough time !

That's the great thing about LM - I've been going for many years now and there is always something new to see. You'll have to get to Arnage next time, it is the best bit of the circuit although it means staying sober if you want to drive there!
Only 2hrs sleep is a good effort
Least I've managed is about 3. After 2 beers with the Sunday evening meal I was falling asleep at the table!!
