We recently got a Samsung LCD for the kitchen and we can't get it to pick up the Group 2 (ITV/C4/E4/etc) channels on Freeview. Having searched the web it looks that they should all come on Channel 67 in our area (YO13).
The Pioneer in the living room has all the channels so its not something affecting the whole house. From memory, the main aerial (boosted) goes into a splitter in the loft and then drops down to points in various rooms, having picked up the Sky bounced back up from the living room.
I suppose the obvious first point is to try the new Sammy in one of the other rooms to see if it picks up 67 there. Could it be a cable issue in the kitchen ?
Any other clues would be greatly appreciated please.

I have a fairly complex aerial/freeview setup in the house and we live in a fairly low signal strength area.
Reception is pretty good now but I had to replace the splitters with a Maplins 4 output 20dB amplifier. I also invested in one of their signal strength meters and found that a quick squirt of WD40 in some of the coax plugs worked wonders.

Could you not just buy an indoor TV aerial for the TV and see if that works. They are pretty cheap.

Umm - WD40 - amazing.

Despite s bsd back tonight I trawled the Sammy upstairs and plugged her in there - a remarkable number of channels popped up - although the analogue were worse than downstairs.
Thanks to the oldest dog for puking up next to me - six times - poor old girl.
Back downstairs and it now at least says bad or weak signal. If my back could stretch under the wall unit to the hidden face plate I bet that's my problem. They always have been the weakest point from when I put it in ten years ago.
From memory, its a Global ?4? way splitter that is one of the better quality around. I'm not sure if better aerials are available now since my last upgrade but we are pretty much in a dip (the sort iPhones don't like let alone Freeview).
Before we know it our 'switchover' time will be upon us so now seems to be as good a time as any to make sure we can get something sorted throughout the house.
Cheers

If your aerial works in at least one of the rooms then it dosent need upgrading your problem lies in your cabeling most likely the wall plate or cable between the TV and wall plate like you mentioned.

You say it picks up the Sky Box from the living room? This could be sending out a signal on C67 (usually C68) and this could be interfering with the freeview channel. Bypass the co-ax on the Sky box and check to see if the Freeview channels come back, if so you will need to change the output channel of the Sky box.

Got to be signal strength/aerial wiring issues. My tv struggled on those very channels (they must be sent out at a lower power than BBC etc - or something). I sorted it by getting rid of the £2 moulded cable that probably came with the tv and putting a 'proper' length I'd made up with decent plugs and shielded satellite cable.

Thanks for all the above.

The Sky is on 39 so that's fine.
The cable was high quality stuff. We had our loft converted into a dormer about 10 years ago and it made sense to drop lots of cable everywhere before the potential to hide cables was lost.

It really must be the plates - however yesterday my back gave in fully. Just got out of bed after 24 hours, unable to move. The work will need to wait a few days until i'm more mobile.
