Unions. Now my personal opinion is they could do useful things other than try and save jobs companies/the gov can't afford to keep. Or campaign for pay rises for no reason. But they don't. Mind you I've never joined one. And I'm just wondering what the general view of Unions is on PH.
They could be useful if they were a genuine way for workers to have a voice with management in some industries. However, I don't think many unions prioritise that any more. From what we see in the media (pinch of salt required) they appear more to be self-serving organisations that (attempt to) cripple companies in times of recession and yet are happy to ride the wave in times of growth.
technically i'm not a member of a Union but to all intents and purposes the Professional association provides all the services you expect from a union, acts a political lobbying force for the profession etc etc etc.
the biggest problem with the TUC unions is the way in which they are so intertwined with the Liarbore Party

My experience of unions is they often have axes to grind and will use anything you approach them with as another reason to take on the management/owners. With this in mind I don't think they can represent you fairly and in your best interest. The principle is sound but when do you ever get the principle.
