Hi Folks,

Starting the journey to the Classic on evening of Wed 7th and stopping over in Calais. This gives us a full day to drive down and I fancy taking a non peage route from Calais all the way down. There is obviously the old N128 from Rouen but does anyone have any suggestions for interesting routes to Rouen and alternative routes south of Rouen.

If anyone fancies hooking up we'll be leaving Calais around 8am (GMT)on Thurs

Cheers

Andy.

We ofeten going down or on the return drop in to some WW1 or WW2 battle fields etc
such as Ypres and the Normandie landings depending on what crossing we use

On the way down last week we found a very moving WW1 cemetery in Abiville.

Get hold of the Michelin tourist maps, and plot a route using the roads bordered by green bands, theres are the scenic roads.

Allow plenty of time, most villages have 50 or 70kph limits which appear strictly adhered to.

Having been so many times to main event, prequalifying and the classic I think we've gone through virtually every town on the map.

Our current route mixes both N road and autoroute as while the journey is great the destination aint too bad eiter. We head down the autoroute past Rouen to Yvetot where we turn off, cross the Pont de Brotonne and then go more or less through Bourgarchard - Bourgtheroulde - Le Neubourg - Conches en Couche - Breteuil - Verneuil - Belleme and onto Le Mans.

Bobo W, thanks for that, that's one of the potential routes I planned. We had a good lunch in Le Neubourg last time we went through there, it's a nice town square with plenty of parking. That route is definately on the options list, with the benefit of allowing you to miss Rouen out. It would be good to hook up that route with something running to the east of the A28 Abbeville to Rouen.
Thanks again. wink
