Anyone know what went missing Sunday night?

While we were sat around our (very modest) camp fire late on Sunday night in Bleu Sud, we were approached by a handful of the security types, the ones with the yellow shirts.
Our French and their English didn't make for a stunning conversation but they appeared to be looking for something big and metallic black, either from or saying Arnage on it - town sign perhaps?
We professed our innocence, as we would have even if we were guilty, but they had a shufty round our campsite none the less.
Pressing them further on what they were looking for didn't illicit much as they fell back on not understanding English, although it did occur to me after, when sober, that 'metallic black' is a pretty specific English term.
Anyway, if anyone has any idea what might have gone missing fitting that description I would be very pleased to be enlightened as we remain intrigued.
