I've got a few hours to kill tomorrow in York.

Can anyone suggest anything I can go do. I know there is the National Rail Museum, but what else is there?

Thanks

Yorvik centre, walk the walls, gallery, the museum in museum gardens is worth a visit, boat trip on the river. If plenty of time try the air museum at Elvington, just out of town.

There's lots of stuff to do.

Yorkshire Museum is closed at the moment.

I would suggest a pub, there are enough for 1 for every day of the year.

Dependent on what you want I can recommend locations for drinking. This is an area I know about.

Even a tour of the York Brewery.

It is quite a touristy set up in York.

If you`ve got any interest in cycling/bikes/outdoor pursuits there is the Cycle rally on at the racecourse this weekend - big trade tent selling stuff at decent prices from 11am, events, food available etc - it`s the CTC national event so pretty good really & would while away a 3 hours & a few quid if you`re in a buying mood.

the rail museum is pretty decent actually, but the jorvik is dire beyond belief.

the bulk of suggestions so far are on the money - hit the pub. there are plenty of decent bars with a good selection of real ales & belgian beers. find a good seat and check out this seasons ladies fashion smile

That's what I did in the end. Found a pub, and watched some football!

Thanks for your suggestions people.
