The day started out so nice, warm weather, catching up with old friends and a few tunnels thrown in for good fun, unfortunatley i only made it half way through the rotherhide tunnel when i lost all power, pulled over popped the bonnet and within 2 minutes the car was an inferno, for those of you who stopped to help it was already to late but i thank you for your efforts, i'm pretty sure that the fire started in the passenger footwell where the battery is so please check your terminals are not corroded and are properly insulated

it took the fire service 25 mins to put her out and she burned so furiously that the tiles on the wall and ceiling were falling off (at least she didn't go without a fight) cannot fault Hagerty insurance with the service they provided and promp payout, will deffo be useing them again with our new tvr

You must have incredible self control .. not posting that up
for all the time it took for the insurance to pay out.

Gutted for you - looks a real mess.

Hope you find a good replacement - if you have not already.

They have to be amongst the saddest pictures I've seen in my life and my heart goes out to you.

Good luck in your search for a new TVR. I hope it will be another Griff.

Sorry for your loss.

I used to drive my Griffith through there every day of the week . .. twice. Very sad images and is another great reason why I try to always carry a fire extinguisher as it MAY make a difference depending on how far it's already got . .

Good luck with your search . . . I dunno if I could replace mine if I lost it like that.

Must be a terrible experience watching your P&J destroying itself. frown

Glad you're Ok though, and that your insurance co. didn't play silly buggers about the claim.

Thats a sorry site , good luck finding a replacement but you wont be using Hagerty as they have stopped insuring TvR models later than 1980 .

Hi, not sure if you're still around on here yellow wedge, but here's a video of V947HBY from 2001 when I hired it for the weekend from The TVR Centre that used to be off the A1 near Barnet... a blast from the past! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y0WRHZ_RRw

I found this post googling the reg plate to see where the grif was these days, so very sad to see the pics.

Insurance should pay any damage to a 3rd party.
