There it is, Love them or hate them, After 5 years of running a dodge ram as a tow truck i thought it was time to replace my old truck, After a lot of looking around & test driving many truck (not just hummers)I came across this one .....

At first i was looking for a yellow or black one,But upon seeing this colour it had to be done its not too in ya face,It has a lpg conversion with the tank in the boot & dvd players in the head rests

As far as running costs go i will keep you up dated, but so far its looking good very close to the dodge running costs, that also was on lpg

Having done two local jobs with it allready its looking good as far as towing goes & customers love it
As far as parking goes i think i will keep out of shopping car parks as i dont fancy the dents or little old ladys stuck in the tyre tread

Many thanks to some of the people on here for some of the advise on these H2,s

Hummer leant UK Mountain Rescue one to trial a couple of years ago IIRC. I was hoping we might get a go but sadly we didn't. The consensus was how can something so big have so little room inside.

As for a tow truck - given what you do - excellent rolling advert / talking point. It'll be interesting to see what it costs to run on LPG.

For something as big as it is. Then yes its small inide. Even more so with the extra seat in the boot. I dont run LPG on mine. But fuel costs are the same as my previous Range Rover.

Yippieeeeeeeee 1st tank of lpg has now gone £50s worth of lpg = 162 miles ? I suppose 90 of that was towing a 800kg trailer & a mondeo on b roads & A loacal 5mile RTA last night with the customer saying hes going to crash more often just to get a ride in the hummer (sounds good to me££)

It was brought from southend not mcc, As the company offered an top price on my old dodge ram and a instant turn around deal was done in in 3hrs (That inc 2 trips to southend @ 35miles away)

So far im one happy chappy !

After all its ONLY FUEL & HORSES !

I agreed with a guy once that if he delivered a car to me, I'd pay his delivery fuel costs. It was only 80 miles, how bad could it be? £20-£30 maybe?

HE TURNED UP TOWING THE CAR WITH A HUMMER and presented me with a bill for something in the £100's!

Funny story now, but not at the time. smile

Round here I only see these used by the lapdancer-type places to ferry punters around.

I love mine. Funny thing is. I dont get any negative comments only good ones. Certainly different on the roads which are full of blandness.......

One of my wierdest moments happened thanks to a bummer. Was driving in Dubai and a bummer was behind me, but something was wrong. It looked really close to the back of my car, but it couldn't ne as wasn't big enough. After about 20 mins of this (traffic jam) we started moving let it overtake me and saw that it was a h3 never heard of that model before so threw me completely as just like a small version of the h2 to my eye at least. Though I was going mental at the time.

Anyways sorry about the warbling musings of my mind and by the way sweet car, but of you see me stopped in my close please don't go over the top of me!

Well i charge around £35 per hr Thats still a lot cheaper than most companies if the police call out a company for a rta brace yourself,
most companys caharge call out charge i dont,
So Ok i have a nice HUMMER Wots wrong with that i have a lot of pride in my company & want to give it the best image
I have been trading just over 12 years i have tried most ways of transporting cars,
and in my eyes this set up works best for me
i started out with a transit flat bed truck,But putting a medium size car on it & your over loaded!
7.5 tonne truck was very expencive on servicing & huge repair bills plus getting low cars on was a nightmare
& the london low emission zone killed that truck as the up grading to a newer truck would cost a lot more than a hummer & trailer mind you fuel consumption was the same
When i was recovered a good few years ago with my family it was a bad experience the shogun i was traviling in destroyed a clutch the company that cane out (via breakdown insurance) Turned up stunk of oil & was covered in crap even inside My engine bay is cleaner when we got out we needed to clean our hands!,It was very hot & stuffy in the cab My daughter was only young & was very upset At least my customers TRAVEL IN STYLE & Comfort with the kids Watching dvds to keep them amused, Trust me being recovered with kids is not a good situation at the best of times
With my company the customers come 1st im not out to rob people as long as my bills get payed & my customers are happy thats what counts
Never judge a book by the cover

Fair play to you - you get to enjoy your company hummer for business and don't charge the earth. If you recovered my car and turned up in a Hummer I'd think that you must be doing something right and take my hat off to you.

Some people hate others being a little bit different or successful. Best wishes with the new Company smoker. thumbup

Well its been 2 weeks & im loving it,Had it serviced by john @ AVS in braintree He said its one of the best he has seen,I have replaced the front headlamps due to a dull one the chrome was very bad,Just spent 5 hrs Undersealing it had all the wheels off ect,I towed a mwb Ford transit to colchester fuel today (on a 1 man towing frame) I have got to say it pulls very well & never seems to strain so far the customers love it i have had no bad comments Its looking more like mine now i have had the number transfered
NOW i have a dilema ...... Do i put stickers on it ? I have been aproached to do a wedding with it All my strobe lights are hidden so no worries there, its just the stickers
