For a new car, I’ve mentally moved on already so what do you folks think?

Budget – 10-13K
Fast and comfortable with sporting pretensions i.e GT , as quick as or faster than my 147 GTA (sub 6 seconds)
Compact (small parking space at home)
2 seats or 2+2
Not stupid running costs
2000 MY or newer

I have a few idea’s myself but let’s see if you can spin me in a different direction

cheers

GD

Rather obvious choice but what about this ...

maybe a little over on price but I know that it has been there for a little while and good age and tidy car

Keep em coming I drove a 350z and S2000 last time round when I bought the GTA instead, both great cars and in the running, but still looking for something different than the usual suspects.

GTA is a tough act to follow.

How about a Z Coupe?

or a Clio V6?

Hi Matt, one of my neighbours has an RX-8 and shares in an oil refinery, little too delicate for my liking, especially on short runs.

Z4 Coupe would be more up my street but then I've got to persuade the wife that financing the rest is a fantastic idea over the 2 years I'll own it. smile

I hate tying myself down with finance though, a car bought outright is yours and nobody can take it off you smile

Depends on your definition of 'stupid running costs' but if you can extend your budget slightly, you could get a half decent 996.

Thanks but one of my stipulated requirements was COMPACT as I have a tiny parking space at home some nice cars there though, like the stingray (always liked them)

Some are smaller than you'd think, also most "GT's" are going to be bigger sadly, just comes with the territory.

If you fancy something different to a TVR and want a good investment, these are fun and hold their money very very well:

Z3 M coupe as mentioned above would be my choice at that budget. I had one for 5 years and absolutely loved it, still regret selling it

I know it's a bit older than you've stated above, but a late 968 (Club Sport?) would be pretty cool for that money.

Maybe the RX8 too, but running costs might be higher (depending on mileage tough)
