Bloody nice looking thing in the flesh. The one I saw had a carbon roof, stainless A pillars, black wheels and was in the latest fad white.
Judged it to be a hideous POS and completely wrote it off from the advert.
But it's got a lot of presence, before I even recognised what it was I though wow! Certainly attracts a lot of admirers.
Think I'd take one over a Scirroco.

This makes me laugh...so many people perceive German cars to be significantly better built than other makes! Nonsense....Makes sense to me.
Firstly, I am hardly biased in what I'm about to say given I've owned German for the last few years and on the whole they make fantastic cars. But none of them have offered significantly better build quality than what I see is now standard issue in most other European cars...including the French and Italians!
In fact, the E92 M3 I once owned rattled more than the Alfa 147 GTA I owned years ago! My current C63 didn't have fantastic dash plastics hence I've had them all covered in leather. My partners previous 2008 Mini Cooper S (OK, not strictly German I admit) had atrocious interior build quality...I've never heard so many rattles and clonks in a new car....and was less reliable (3 oil leaks in a year!) in the first few thousand miles than her current Citroen DS3.
That Peugeot looks lovely in real life and, probably due to being brand new, has so much more presence on the road than either a Scirocco or TT.
So yes, in my experience it makes perfect sense to go for the Peugeot over the German competition!

Looks nothing like ze German? Similarities end with 4 wheeled small coupe. As I said in my post, IF I went down the leasing route. I wouldnt be able to stomach the depreciation on one, nor the running costs when out of warranty.Makes sense to me.
The TDi TT would also be something I looked at should I choose to go down that route.
Without looking round the internet I cant really think of any smallish coupes that look tasty, and offer 50+mpg.

DS3, now thats another seriously cool looking French car. And for the purposes of bias judging, I'm about to start working for VW Group in their UK parts operation, and currently own an Audi.

The RCZ is built at a dedicated plant at the Magna Steyr facility in Graz, Austria. Makes sense to me.
This means its built by the same company and at the same plant as the new Aston Martin Rapide. Have always found austrian built quality to be slightly better than german...
There is only 2000 coming into the UK in the 1st year so it will be a damn sight rarer than a TT.

I'e just gone from a Peugeot to a german brand. Had the Peugeot 3 years and great build quality. Not a single, solitary, squeak, rattle, fault. Nil, Nada,zilch.
Had the 'premium' brand six weeks and the squeaks began, along with the buzzing speakers and premature wear on the leather seat.

You know what, I'll admit that I'm normally very stuck up about car brands and having the missus owning a Citroen instead of a Mini grated a bit! But I really really do rate her car...she's got a 1.6 THP Sport and it is the most refined small car I have ever experienced by a huge margin and is great fun to drive if not as ultimately sporty as the Mini. It copes with our rutted British roads much better than the Mini did and after recently having had the pleasure
of hiring a new Fiesta, it's much nicer than that too! In many ways, I find it more 'fun' to drive on a typical British road than my C63 as you don't have to drive as fast before you get a sensation of doing anything! Is it wrong to have such dirty thoughts??

Might have to go back and have a further chat actually. I've also worked in a BMW dealership in aftersales, and the amount of Mini's coming back for remedial work and recalls was untrue. I know what you mean about sensation of speed from a big car to a small car, but if your really not that happy with the C63, I'm sure I could make good use of it.
I don't think these went down too well in the Rcz post a month or so ago.
I thought it looked great in the advert - really liked the bubble roof... Although I did do a re-think when someone commented 'that roof line looks like a bum!'...

TBH though, it's going to be expensive so it had better be VERY good.
As much as I despise my girlfriend's 307, it is completely rattle and noise free. Which is more than I can say for the last 3 German cars I've been in - VW Golf plus that I owned, my mate's 1 series that sounded like the interior was going to fall off and my Dad's Z4M (but I can forgive that one)!
Edit: It's still French though and my money would go nowhere near it!

The key thing though is the interior trim/materials. I find a lot of manufacturers use horrible cheap plastics and i havent actually been inside an rcz but did look at one on display at a show and the interior looked like the whole dash was made from a nasty plastic. I therefore worry the touch surfaces are made from equally unimpressive materials.
