Have posted this in a couple of corsa forums already, but thought I would check here because of the vast knowledge available... biggrin

So simple enough problem and hopefully simple enough solution -

Engine management light came on, no degradation to the car performance, only sign something is wrong is the little yellow light on the dashboard.

Pulled the code off, coming up as 0340 - Camshaft Sensor Fault.

I am hoping that its just a case of replacing the camshaft sensor and job done, or is this usually a fault of something more sinister... I would have thought that anything other than a simple sensor glitch would have put the car into limp mode?

Car is a 1998 Corsa B model with a 1.4l petrol engine.

pretty sure it'll just be the sensor.. if it was anything else camshaft-related you probably would've noticed a drop in engine performance

My old Astra (the Fun Bus) had this same fault although it was a 1.7DTi. I had the fault for 000's of miles although sometimes it would splutter and chuck a cloud of smoke out the back and then run normally. In the end I had the sensor replaced - was no more than a couple of hundred notes from memory.

May I add that I had the sensor done at the same time as the cambelt.

Cambelt was changed when the head gasket was... err repaired in the loosest sense of the word as the garage that did it were utter f**king cowboys (but that is currently going through the legal process)

Yep absolutely no change in engine performance - fecking expensive for sensor - looking like £40ish off the net or £60 from vauxhall yikes

Looks like its haynes manual purchase tomorrow to locate the sensor location - I suppose £40 for the part is not too bad if it doesnt cure it.
