Mini - The real one!
Discussion
Probably belongs in the Classic Mini section but was trundling home today in the Jeep and infront of me was a 1966 Mini Cooper. (OK Morris Cooper to be exact to the badge)
What a great looking car. Blue Paint. 10" wheels. Exposed door hinges. Corner Bars on the bumpers, Oval rear lights. Lovely.. Shame I couldn't get a pic.
So if the owner (probably around the Southend on Sea area) is on here,.... Hats off. Stunning car!

Considering how they were designed to be affordable transport, they really got it right with that car.
It's a shame we couldn't really follow it up with anything and don't have any modern alternatives to our name.
What do you mean by 'we couldn't follow it up with anything'? Do you mean nothing thats considered 'affordable transport'? Or nothing that is such an icon? Surely the BMW MINI is a modern alternative? Built in Britain and is fast becoming an icon just like the original. It's a shame we couldn't really follow it up with anything and don't have any modern alternatives to our name.

See I don't agree with that. The BMW Mini is just cartoon copy of the original. OK it's a good car and very capable but it's big and has pretty modest interior space, which is the complete opposite to the design brief of the original.I personally don't believe the UK have managed to follow on from the Mini with anything as unique and ground-breaking.
