Sierra Cosworth 4 pot calipers
Discussion
They can be made to fit but I'm not sure whether they are a direct replacement or not.
The distance between the hub bolt holes is the same, but the 4 pot calipers have much greater offset due to the two outboard pistons. This can possibly lead to fouling on the inside of the wheel - depends on what wheels you have on of course.
I also seem to recall (but dont shoot me if I'm wrong on this) that the hubs for the 4 pot calipers contained the screw thread, whereas with the single pot calipers, the screw thread is part of the caliper carrier i.e they are bolted in opposite directions.
You will obviously need bigger 283mm dia discs and pads as well.
However unless you happen to have a good set of 4 pot calipers ready to bolt on, the general consensus of opinion tends to be they they are heavy and there are lighter after-market 4 pot calipers on the market, which all help to reduce the unsprung weight of the wheel and hub assembly.
Alternatively, the 4x4 Sierra cosworth or Escort Cosworth or 24V Scorpio single piston calipers fit on with just a minor mod to the caliper carrier. This is relieved to allow use of rwd cossie 283mm discs as the 4x4 discs are 278mm dia, so the carriers need to be opened out to allow the bigger disc to rotate. I'm currently doing this upgrade to my Griff 500's brakes.
