Classic: Anyone want to sell a track discovery lap ticket?
Discussion
HI SC,
My son and I went to the very first Le Classic Le Mans. Beside the offical paddock there was an enclosure full of new exotic cars that ran on the circuit between races. In the same enclosure there were a fleet of vintage buses. We decided we needed to bum our way into this enclosure and we managed it despite heavy security. We then decided we'd try for a bus! It was becoming clear that the buses were half empty and the drivers were getting agitated due to the lack of passengers and the need to get on to the circuit. So we cooly got to the bus entrance and were waived aboard! Next minute, all the official passengers got on and a number had to stand! Many were obviously corporate guests, racing team members etc. Anyway, we did the circuit at a modest pace, flags and crowd waving etc. Great to see some exotics passing us at speed too. All in all a great all round experience.
Next time we went we looked for a similar enclosure and the buses but they did not seem to be there.
Looks like they may be returning for 2010, so we may make another sortie!

I thought you could buy tickets to do that only as part of a club, or if you are parked in the club enclosure? The club enclosure is full, and we aren't part of a club
And I think they're very specific about the cars they are prepared to let out on track.

Although part of me would love to see someone sneak out in a 2CV or something equally inappropriate

I think we'd be ok with the car (I've read their allowed cars list). According to another thread, we're too late for club enclosure passes. Next year - and then I'll definitely take the track lap option. Had hoped to do it this year, until I found out there wasn't a hope of getting in

I am sure you will be able to blag a bus tour when there. Equally, hang about and see if some kind fellow will take you round when on their track laps.
