So what can you get for less than £10k that will go over the average UK speed bump or pot hole at the speed limit with the most sympathy for the passengers and the suspension?

i.e. Not damage the passengers or the car?

I would have thought some kind of 4x4 but from my limited experience they tend to jump around a lot if you don't slow down!

Cheers.

Any Citroen with their magic suspension.
You didn't specify age, performance, looks etc.

I'd second that. Tested the lot of them from the '60s to the present day across a course of rutted country lanes with potholes, cobbles and cattle grids and barely noticed a thing, even on the '60s DS.

Be interesting to see a 2CV and a Lotus with their defunct active suspension.

I didn't bother slowing for speed bumps in my company Astra and it actually went over them very smoothly, primarily because the suspension is so wallowy it reacts to the bump just after you've gone over it, so you get an initial jolt and then it returns to normal slowly and comfortably.

The Impreza on the other hand will break your back at any speed over a bump.

Or an old Peugeot (x04 series). Used to have a 304 and this ability was its main advantage.

also you could get 15 or 20 of them for £10k.....

They're actually not that bad to drive (paperbag), even with an MX-5 for comparison. Sure, you'll physically notice when you take one of those stupid speed cushion things at full speed, but not in an uncomfortable way - more of a big lazy French wallow.

Some of them even come with a bum massager... sorry, "Lane Departure Warning System" hehe

That's cos I don't care - I'm interested in which car can do this, then narrow it down! smile

yes father in law is on his second. Most boat-like thing I've ever had the chance of navigating. And I've been on real boats.

My 307 could do this too, but it was a company car.

Pretty much anything French that is Golf/Astra sized or bigger....

My snotter laguna can go over bumps at work (worse than any public road bumps) at 25-30, without feeling a thing.

In contrast, my last family car, a Focus C-Max, would have me wincing at anything over 10mph, and my toy, a lifted, leaf sprung Suzuki Samurai, bounces massively at 5mph!!
