I wasn't paying attention at the pumps earlier and put £2 unleaded into my 2006 2.2 diesel honda accord. When I realised I filled it up with £69 diesel. Should this be ok?

Thanks guys

I think it'll be ok - you can add a bit of petrol to veggie oil, so you might get away with it.

might get away with it. i'd keep topping it up for the next 1000 miles. (eg let it go down to 3/4 full and brim it again).

I've heard this as well, I'm sure people used to put a little petrol in their deisel in the winter to help prevent waxing.

Besides, £2 only buys you about a cupfull these days doesn't it? Certainly feels like it anyway.

I can't tell you an informed answer. However i would be cool to let that one slide under the radar and forget. I feel if i had done it i would have just carried on as normal.

Keep topping up the tank every 100 miles of the next 1000 miles, that'll see the petrol diluted down to nothing safely.

£2 of petrol in a full tank of derv should do no harm as long as you have a full tank on average 60 ltr tank minus maybe two ltrs for petrol the percentage is tiny dont worry

I once put a quarter of a tank of diesel in a truck! (They'd changed the diesel pump to petrol since my last visit.)
Anyway, I brimmed it with diesel and it was fine!
As Lord Flasheart says, the manual told us to add 'a few gallons of petrol in severe weather to prevent icing' smile

I did it in my 730d. £2 of petrol and after the 'oh cock' moment brimmed it with £90 of diesel. That was a year ago. Still going fine now, touch wood.

It will be fine. £2 at £1.20 / litre is 1.66 litres, £69 of diesel at £1.22 / litre is 56.5 litres. So there is roughly 3% petrol in the tank.

The killer for petrol in diesels is lack of lubrication for the HP pump and injectors as they are lubricated by the fuel, not the engine oil, and 3% dillution isn't going to make a difference to that.

We used to add a gallon of petrol to around 12 gallons of diesel in our Transits back in the 80s. It was supposed to make 'em run better?

I put £20 of petrol in my Audi A6 2.7tdi . Tried to syphon it out at the garage but no luck due to the anti syphon device. In the end I filled it up with diesel and chanced it. It was fine , after reading up on it I added some 2 stroke oil just for good measure

My wife done £10 worth of petrol in tne ovlov D5, filled with diesel no probs.
A Boating friend of mine said that big diesel boat engines often have a bit of petrol added to make it run better.
So nothing to worry about.

I often wonder why people measure the volume of petrol in price, it makes no sense.

I once put £12 of unleaded in a Clio DCi that was so empty it hopped into the petrol station. Drove off and it wasn't until a mile or so down the road that I noticed it was sounding a bit rough. Pulled over, chucked a jerry can of diesel in it and then drove up the petrol station and brimmed it. No problems at all...
