Wanted - some kind soul who has probably spent anything upwards of £14 (that's what I have so far) in an effort to match the dark green of their garden furniture. I have an old faded parasol base which, shape-wise, nicely matches our table & chairs. Easy, thought I - just nip to B & Q and get a tin of Plastikote Green. Now I know that one cannot go by the colour on the lid, but I went for the darkest of the three. Sprayed the base & parasol rod tube - boo, too light. So today back to B & Q, tried the other 2 on the sampling board - just as bright, way off. So round to the Hammerite section - great, Plastikote 'Metalkote' - it said Dark Green on the tin and the colour on the label where it said Dark Green was just the shade I was looking for. Wrong - it is even bleddy brighter, and definitely didn't do wot it sed on the tin. Now really got the hump - looking on eBay for a larf - came across a Buy-it now for 250 ml of brushing paint in - wait for it - Land Rover Green. While the colour in the picture is more like it, has anyone else had this problem? It is driving me MAD (does an impression of John Cleese...)

I presume you're stirring them properly... and are you painting it in daylight or artificial light? That could make a difference.

No stirring John - the ones I used were spray cans. I am now considering taking the small centre part of the table down to B & Q and give them the challenge of mixing up some to match (that is if they do this with exterior paints) It may be worth a try
