Hi
Planning to take my MX5 off the road for a few months as a result of a change in job etc giving me not enough time to use. Not ready to sell yet, as hoping to find some time next year to start to use again, and the car's a little gem, too nice to let go on a whim etc etc . But would appreciate some storage advice as follows :

Car has genuine replacement Mazda battery with the two vent tubes coming out of the top - ( fairly new) - Can and should this type of battery be trickle charges, and should it be taken off the car ?

Depending on answer above, is it sensible to start car and run in driveway for say 15 mins every 4 - 6 weeks just to warm through, or is it best to leave alone totally.

Should tyres be pumped up - and to what pressure ?

Any other sensible tips ? - Planning on leaving car until next April - so 10 months in all.

Thanks in advance for any advice ( P.S - Its a Mk 2 - 1.8 - 32K miles )

Leave the hand brake off. Don't put a cover on, it ruins the paint. Doubt you need a trickle charger, just start it up every now and again.

Give it a FULL detail before storing. Dunno about anything else.

Gel batteries are fine on a Ctek type trickle charger.

Not sure about tyres - pump them right up and make sure they are rotated every month or so to prevent flat spotting.

Or just get it up on axle stands - no need to pump up or rotate the tyres then wink
