Whats the general opinion about the following;

I know its legal to drive with no MOT only, if you are driving to and from a prebooked MOT apointment(as long as taxed & insured).

What if you wanted to drop the car at the garage the evening before? Are you breaking the law and liable to be done if pulled by BiB. They are not likely to believe that you are dropping off car or will they?

I need to do this next week as not possible to drop car off on the day of the test cause im away.

I think it would very much depend on the level of discretion/common sense employed by the BiB that pulls you over.

IMO you're technically doing nothing wrong. You have an appointment booked, and the garage should be able to corroborate this if you get any strife.

Just don't make any detours on your route to the garage and your version of what you're doing in a car with no MOT should be plausible enough.

Maybe worth a post in SP&L?

AIUI, there is no legal stipulation as to where the MOT needs to be or when it is to be carried out.

Explain it to the mot garage that this is what you plan to do, so they know when you'll be arriving. get them to note it in their diary. if you get stopped then bib can verify your story.

job done.

stop worrying.

end thread.
