If so, any feedback?

Seem to be mixed reviews in the Lotus community. When my T1R's die I'm hoping to get something with a little less tread to start with, and maybe a bit more grip, but I don't want to go all the way to 888's or the like.

I'm currently running Hankook RS2 on my Mk2.5. Far better than any normal road tyre but not quite up to the level of R888. They can however be used as road tyres all year round. I'll probably go for Toyo R1R when they wear out.

We run the R1R as an option in the max5 race series. Tyre wear is high but grip is good.

My next set will be Federal another tyre we can choose....almost as good as an r888 but lasts longer and cheaper.

Ps I can supply Federal tyres if required

I guess that's the 595s... How do they compare to the RS2s?

personally I think they are better than the RS2's and .5 second a lap quicker than the R1R's

The R1R suffers with temp issues after about 6/7/ laps

Is that the same when driving at 80% on a trackday as opposed to 100% in a race?

Yep I've been running them for a few months now. Previously had the Goodyear F1 GSD3's which I found to be very competent. Haven't had the chance to try them on track but as above I can understand people saying they are soft. After a good run on a hot day the rubber becomes very soft.

They are probably a little extreme for an MX5 but I thought I'd give'em a go when I got my new Team Dynamics 1.2's and the R888's are a little too much for my daily driver. Also you get a bit more tread depth (about 7mm) than the R888 but it's still probably only going to last me this season!
Not sure if they share the same stiff tyre wall construction as the R888's but found does have a slightly sharper turn in, and under some very heavy braking there was no lock up.

I say go for it. Also unsure if they are going to be banned for road use like all other semi slicks which I here is on the cards although these may get away with it.

Regards
Andy

I believe the compound and construction to be similar to that of the 888. To be fair, I don't want more grip during summer, I like the fact that the car can be slid around on the T1R's with little hassle, and the fact that they're only peanuts per corner so wear's not a consideration.
